In week 3, Maki asks us to market the blog.
Week 3: Marketing the Blog
- Create new + consistent social media/networking profiles (optional)
- Spend a few days creating one spectacular link bait.
- Promote the link bait by emailing popular blogs or use social media.
- Set up an actionable prospect list and start reaching out to other bloggers.
- Spend some time everyday networking with other bloggers
- Learn to use cost-free methods of marketing such as guest blogging.
- Purchase ads on relevant sites promoting your blog.
- Hire a few good writers and tell them your requirements.
I’ve started promoting Intrapreneur Blog as discussed in my last Get a real blog post. I’ve started promoting it via social media (claiming the blog on Technorati, creating a Squidoo Intrapreneuring Lens, and adding it to the BUMPzee Australian Blogs Community).
By 22 December 2007, I plan to do the following for Intrapreneur Blog:
- Create a link bait post,
- Promote the link bait post via Twitter, Bloggerati.com.au and coRank,
- Commentstorm through every blog I can find that mentions intrapreneuring,
- Work through the no-cost marketing options recommended by top bloggers, and
- Try to work out a way of low-cost advertising (possibly through StumbleUpon).
Note: a little promotion goes a long way - I now have the number one spot for search term intrapreneur blog on Google.
