Blog Series Made Easy

I’ve written before on writing a blog post series.

At Snoskred’s suggestion, I’m writing a series of posts for NaBloPoMo that follow a common theme - each day this month there will be a profile post for a member of The Aussies.

This has worked well for me so far:

This will continue through the month of November. I’ll have to double up some days so that I fit everybody in (but a promise is a promise).

So how hard is it to write a blog series?
It isn’t hard at all - you just need to pick the topic that:

  1. really suits your blog: this is important - if you are straining to come up with a series concept that fits your blog, you are probably better off giving it a miss - being seriously out of character is a good way to put people off.
  2. has enough depth to make a series worthwhile - if you are straining to come up with a series of posts around your core concept, then you should find another one. Seriously.

How do I find a series concept that fits my blog?
I’m glad you asked :) You might have put a lot of thought into your original blog niche (or maybe you didn’t) - regardless of this, you can use niche- and content-generating ideas like reframing to come up with a winning series concept - something that adds value to your niche.

And if you add value to your niche often enough, the readers will come. Please trust me on this, it has worked for me.

So… what is your favourite blog series of all time?

    Hi Andrew,
I love YOUR series in fact. Every day I look forward to a new blog to add to my reader list. So far though you have shouwn excellent taste and chosen those already on my list. LOL. I have met Colin though and added him.

I figure that if they appear in your series - given the blogs you’ve already profiled - they are worthy of my reader list and so far so good.

    No pressure!

    :)

    Hi Cellobella,

thank you :) And on behalf of those in the series that you are now reading, I thank you also - it is a fine thing that you are doing.

    Best regards, Andrew

My favourite series is my get out of your niche series. I love it! ;)

My least favourite is currently my weekly wrap up, I’m over it. I’m giving it a break for November before I go crazy. There has to be an easier way and I’m looking at other options. ;)

    Cheers,
    Snoskred

    Hi Snos,

thank you for your comment and I hope that all is well in your world.

The weekly wrap up is a good idea - I can see how you would think it is annoying as a series. It is, however, an ideal excuse to spread some link love to yourself and to everyone else as well. Your call, I know.

    Best regards, Andrew
