Marc Andreessen has given up on comments on blog.pmarca.com. Who does he think he is, Steve Pavlina?
Seriously though, I can see where he is coming from - multi-squillionaire, blogs as a hobby mainly for his own amusement (with occasional references to Ning) - what does he need comment spam headaches for?
He is sharing the link love by allowing trackbacks on his last 20 posts. At his current average posting rate, that should give anyone who links to one of his posts a couple of weeks’ worth of trackback.
Steve Pavlina allows people to comment on his posts on his own forums, which works as well, I guess. Personally, I wouldn’t try this sort of thing unless I was already famous - making readers go one extra step out of their way is not remarkable, it is an inconvenience. Making them go ten steps out of their way - now that would be remarkable ![]()
